Tata Motors has launched the mid-size electric SUV Harrier EV in the Indian market today (June 3). This car has been introduced with 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs. The company claims that this car will run for 627 kilometers on a single full charge.

Tata has launched the Harrier EV in three models – Adventure, Fearless, and Empowered. The starting price is ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings will begin on July 2. Tata is giving a lifetime unlimited warranty on the battery and free connected car features for 4 years.

The car will get several offroading modes with an all-wheel drive option. These include off-roading features like Transparent Mode, Boost Mode and Rock Crawl Mode with a 360 degree camera. For safety, 22 Level 2 features of Advanced Driving Assist System will be available along with 7 airbags. This car will compete with the Mahindra XEV 9e & BYD Atto 3.

The design of the Harrier EV is similar to the ICE model, but it has some cosmetic updates.

The Harrier EV's ability to drive on rough and uneven roads was shown at the launch event.

The price of the car (ex-showroom) has been kept at Rs 21.49 lakh. Its stealth edition was also introduced at this event.

Design

LED headlights and connected LED DRL The overall look of the Harrier EV is similar to its ICE version, but it has some cosmetic updates. The front of the Harrier EV features a new bumper with a closed grille and vertical slats like the Curve EV. Apart from this, it will also get the regular model's LED headlights and connected LED DRLs with welcome and goodbye animation function.

Talking about the side profile, here we get new alloy wheels with Aero specific covers. 'EV' badging can also be seen on the front doors, while the ICE version has 'Harrier' branding. Up front, there are roof rails and a panoramic sunroof.

The back side of the Harrier EV has LED tail lights that are joined together and show welcome and goodbye animations, just like the petrol and diesel versions. Its rear bumper has also been updated. It now has vertical slats, which match its front design.

Interior

The Tata Harrier EV has a cabin like the regular model, but with a new grey and white interior, similar to the Nexon EV and Curvv EV. It comes with a 4 spoke steering wheel that has an illuminated Tata logo and two digital screens, giving it a modern feel.

Features

12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system The Tata Harrier EV will feature the same features as the ICE-powered Harrier. These include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, panoramic sunroof, dual-tone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats, multi-colour ambient lighting, connected car technology and a 10-speaker JBL sound system with subwoofer.

It will also have a unique feature ‘Summon Mode’ which is a remote controlled parking function that moves the vehicle forward or backward using the gear knob. Apart from this, it also offers EV-specific features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle charging (V2V).

Performance

You will get a range of over 627 km Tata has confirmed that it will have an all-wheel-drive option and its certified range on a full charge will be over 627 km.

Safety features

The Harrier EV comes with a system to monitor the car, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) for better driving safety and support.
